Learning Outcomes:

Read texts in a variety of disciplines and genres, using critical reading strategies Demonstrate knowledge of writing as a process, including consideration of peer and instructor feedback, from initial draft to final revision
Demonstrate sentence-level correctness

Situation:

You have been introduced to some fundamental forms in stand-up and some possible research topics. Your Annotated Bibliography must include two of the texts we read in class and one text that you find on your own. In the Synthesis, you will use secondary sources to analyze a specific stand-up comedy performance, and you will create a synthesis of all your sources in the form of a research question. So this first writing project is a practical first step in that finding some secondary sources that address a topic area that interests you.

Task:

You first paragraph should provide your reader with a clear understanding of the author’s topic, key words, and main purpose. Your second paragraph should summarize how that purpose is developed with evidence. Your third paragraph should assert and support a claim of value about the text as a possible resource in a Research Project. Remember to also include a properly formatted MLA Citation.

Evaluation Criteria:

Annotated Bibliography will:
Provide a clear understanding of the author’s topic, key words, and main purpose
Use that main purpose as a guide to identify and summarize relevant evidence
Assert and support a claim of value about the text as a possible resource in a Research Project
Include one direct quote for each text
Demonstrate thoughtful use of summary templates
Include properly formatted MLA Citation
Be free of grammatical and mechanical errors
