1.Funding plays a great role in research process. I feel it gives you a lead way to expand as much as you want or get as much people to help with a research. Limited funding can only do a research to a certain extend but unlimited funding can go as far as needs to be done. Of course, having empirical data is most helpful to publishing the work but I have also been engaged in several other initiatives that were not funded, and I have produced a reasonable amount of publications, collaborations, and other outcomes, such as reports, projects and related work, through these non-funded ventures. Thus, I feel the pressure to get grants, which can enhance one’s career, and feed into the neoliberal notion of the contemporary university, because of the boxes on evaluation forms but wonder if one might be as productive, creative, conscientious and meaningful without the grant debacle circling overhead. However, I have also consecrated enormous energy to the administrative side of the equation, to training and supporting the research assistants, writing updates, reports and evaluations to maintain the grant, and also in developing the grant proposal.

2.Funding plays a huge role in conducting research. Without the proper resources that are needed to conduct research, then the research could end up ending before it even begins. Everything costs money these days, the money that would be needed to conduct research would be people or some type of sample size and then a way to record any findings. This would take the technology and the know how to use that tech, so people would have to be paid as well. Writing a grant proposal greatly helps the chances of research getting off the ground. When creating a proposal, everything must be laid out in order for the people or company to want to fund the research. By creating a basis of what the study is and what is the overall outcome that is wanted to come to a conclusion, it helps the investor see what is needed and how it will benefit criminal justice. Criminal justice can use this funding to create new departments or get new technology that can help them on a day to day basis.
