Re: National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week
The week of February 28 has been designated as “National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week,” and DePaul University will be an active participant. The primary goals of NCAAW are to work towards reducing alcohol misuse by educating students about alcohol and alcohol abuse, promoting responsible decision making and healthy lifestyles, and increasing awareness of alcohol abuse prevention and intervention services.
The Student Life Department will be sponsoring lectures and non‑alcoholic activities, and will be distributing information about alcohol abuse and healthy lifestyle choices. Our theme for this year’s National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week is: “Just say YES To Healthy Lifestyle Choices!” By incorporating this theme throughout the year in various programming opportunities, we hope to focus on all‑around wellness issues, moderation in all activities, and the ability to distinguish between healthy choices and abuse.
This year, in an attempt to incorporate an academic facet to our programs, we are asking faculty members to address alcohol‑related/healthy lifestyle choice topics during academic classes wherever possible. If you are able to include something on healthy lifestyle choices in your classes, we ask that you return the information on the back letting us know if you can “pledge” a few minutes (or more) to during the week of February 28 or some other time during the year. We greatly appreciate your involvement!
