• For this assignment, you will need to locate and carefully read a copy of the lease/rental agreement for your home, apartment, or dorm:

• For On Campus Housing: Ideally, you would have a copy of your housing application in your files. If you do not, email me and I will provide you with a copy. Note: The document that you signed to apply for student housing makes reference to several other policies that apply to you that are available online. You will need to locate any other policies that are referenced in the document that I send you. All of them are available online.
• For Off Campus Housing: Ideally, you would have a copy of your lease in your files. If you do not, you will need to contact your rental office for a copy of your lease. Complete the assignment, and then put the lease in a safe place and keep it this time!!!
• For Those Not Renting: If you live in housing that is not rented (i.e. you live at home/with parents, own your own home, live in a tree house, etc.), email me and I will provide you with a lease that you can use for this assignment.

1. After you have carefully read your lease, respond to the following questions in Canvas:

• Be honest: Had you fully and carefully read your entire lease before you signed it?
• Did anything you found in your lease surprise you? If so, what was it?
• Does your lease say anything about how disputes between you and your landlord/rental company will be resolved?
• Describe anything else you learned or found noteworthy about your rental agreement.

1. Bring a copy of your lease to class on the due date. (Note: We will have a class discussion, but you will not be asked to show the class your actual lease if you are not comfortable doing so.)
